I started tuning in the Coshocton, Ohio area in 1975. Having graduated Coshocton High School where they had the greatest pianos of the day, I was amazed at other stage pianos of the time being so neglected. This was motivation enough for me to jump into action.

I was mentored by some of the best, after taking 3 courses. I took my knowledge to the road where I had already been traveling for 4 years. One dealt with restringing, one with rebuilding/voicing and one with different methods of tuning. I couldn’t get enough knowledge at the time. I soon found out however that it was more to do with experience then knowledge. The knowledge laid a great foundation though and I was off to the races ready and able to acquire the experience needed to develop the skill of tuning into an art form. Mixing the science of string tension with the beats of sound and the various parts of the piano became an enlightening experience.

I love the piano as an instrument. It sings when finely tuned and fills the room with music like no other music. Since I first got in the business I’ve rebuild 8 pianos and tuned for hundreds of clients from Cambridge to Coshocton to New Phila to Canton and beyond.
